DUBAI: In a strategic leap towards transforming Dubai’s transport infrastructure, Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) has launched over 6,000 of its taxis on Bolt, the global shared mobility platform.

This landmark integration includes services like Ladies and Family Taxis and People of Determination Taxis, enabling residents and visitors to book rides directly through the Bolt app with enhanced digital convenience.

As part of this rollout, Bolt is offering 30 percent cashback on the first three taxi rides, with no surge pricing.

The initiative supports Dubai’s vision of a smart and digitally connected city, where commuting becomes more seamless and technology-driven. With Bolt’s presence in over 600 cities worldwide, this move gives Dubai users access to cutting-edge features like live tracking, emergency response, accurate mapping, and a driver scoring system – all designed to elevate the commuting experience.

Seamless city travel

This collaboration is closely aligned with Dubai Taxi’s broader ambitions under its 2025-2029 strategic roadmap, which positions it as the largest taxi operator in the Emirates and a leading regional player in mobility solutions. With more than 6,000 DTC vehicles now available on Bolt, users benefit from transparent pricing and added security through in-app safety tools.

Dubai’s government aims to shift 80% of taxi trips to e-booking services in the coming years, a target that this initiative directly supports. The expansion also helps DTC tap into Dubai’s Dh6 billion taxi and e-hailing sector by leveraging Bolt’s advanced digital interface and growing customer base.

Strategic alignment

Ammar Al Braiki, Chief Operations Officer at Dubai Taxi Company, commented on the integration: “The addition of over 6,000 DTC vehicles onto the Bolt app marks a pivotal step towards realising our vision of becoming the UAE’s largest e-hailing platform. This milestone not only improves service convenience but also enhances operational efficiency and customer satisfaction across the emirate.”

He added that future plans include extending Bolt’s reach beyond Dubai into other emirates, further promoting smart mobility and environmentally sustainable solutions. This collaboration supports Dubai’s ambition of becoming a global model for smart and sustainable urban living.

Regional expansion

GJ Kistemaker, Vice President of Partner Markets, Business Development, and MENA at Bolt, stated: “We are proud to strengthen our partnership with Dubai Taxi Company as we continue our expansion in the region. This move enhances our ability to offer reliable and seamless transportation experiences, tailored for Dubai’s fast-paced lifestyle.”

Bolt currently serves more than 200 million customers globally and partners with over 4.5 million drivers. The platform’s portfolio includes ride-hailing, scooter and e-bike rentals, car rentals, food and grocery delivery, and corporate mobility services – designed to transition urban users from car ownership to shared mobility.

Mobility at scale

Founded in 1994, Dubai Taxi Company now operates over 9,500 vehicles and employs around 18,000 drivers. While its original focus was on taxi operations, DTC has expanded into VIP limousines, buses, and delivery services. The company has recently become a public shareholding entity under Law No. 21 of 2023, reflecting its growing scope and influence in the regional transportation sector.

Bolt’s app is available for free on both iOS and Android, offering Dubai residents and tourists an efficient way to hail taxis without the uncertainty of fluctuating fares.
